TOMBOGO’s highly anticipated return to NYFW did not disappoint. Known for their innovative and star studded runway shows, their latest, titles “Reverse Engineering," was one of the highlights of this past weekend’s NYFW. Tommy Bogo, the dynamic designer from California’s Bay Area, invited audiences to enjoy a runway experience that blurred the lines between art, fashion, and innovation.
Held on September 6th, 2024 at Manhattan’s NeueHouse Madison Square, the TOMBOGO SS25 show was not only a runway, but also a curated fashion exhibition. The set brought the designer’s artistic development to the runway, displaying where TOMBOGO’s pieces come to life.
The show itself mirrored the art of detachability and customization. Models entered the runway to be greeted by a team of “lab techs” dressed in silver embellished, white hazmat suits who then modified, elevated, and completed each look by adding accessories and manually attaching final pieces. The 27 unisex looks included the use of utility jackets, cropped moto coats, and trench coats. These transformable pieces were not only visually appealing, but also extremely functional.
Adding to the extravaganza were performances by prominent individuals in the music world including such as Rich Amiri, Audrey Nuna, Duckwrth, Billyracxx, UnoTheActivist, and AKTHESAVIOR. The bridging of the fashion and music realms felt extremely tasteful and organic. Bogo also debut his original track “Another Time,” which served as the runway’s sound track. This marked Bogo’s launch into music, further pushing TOMBOGO as a brand that thrives on the diversity of art.
As it was time for the final model to take their last walk, the message became crystal clear: Tommy Bogo isn’t just here for fashion; he’s here to make a movement. The TOMBOGO SS25 collection’s focus on construction, deconstruction, and functionality, was a visual display of how fashion can master duality.
