Popular Streetwear Brand SP5DER Turns Heads At NYFW24

Celebrating five years since the birth of the popular streetwear brand, SP5DER marked its presence in the high fashion world with their first-ever runway show in honor of their anniversary.

Taking place at New York Fashion Week on September 8th, the highly anticipated, star-studded show introduced their Fall/Winter collection “Nocturnal Highway.” From exciting twists on their classic sweatsuits to new experiments with leather and denim garments, the runway left its audience and viewers on the edge of their seats, gasping for more.

Founded in 2019 by embattled artist Young Thug, SP5DER has mainly appealed to a younger audience over the years, typically worn as a bragging statement piece. The brand can be commonly recognized for its bright monochrome sweat sets and t-shirts displaying designs such as webs with rhinestones alongside its popular logo.

Through their NYFW, we were able to see a peek into the portal of the newly elevated looks curated by SP5DER themselves. Pieces with fur trims, printed denim, and even snakeskin were seen flooding the runway, completely executing and stretching the limits. Proving, yet again, SP5DER is here to stay.

“Nocturnal Highway” was able to beautifully bridge the gap between the fashion, music, and sports communities. Not only did a star-studded audience appear to show its support, but the runway also featured models such as Sadboi, Karrahboo, Kyle Kuzma, and Alton Mason walking this weekend. The show closed with singer and long-time partner of Young Thug, Mariah the Scientist, dressed in a fur, animal print trench coat accompanied by a matching bikini set with a red 5 printed on the top. Mariah’s look set social media ablaze, as she confidently strode the runway in what looked like a brown cow-print bikini and a matching trench coat, finished with a hot pink quilted puffer lining.

Meanwhile, founder and face of SP5DER, Young Thug, is still awaiting trial stemming from his 2022 RICO arrest. The trial is already the longest in the history of the state of Georgia with most blaming incompetency of the state as the main cause for delay. Many are calling this an affront to justice, accusing the state of Georgia of using “red tape” within the justice system to keep Thug imprisoned. A motion filed by Thug’s legal team for him to be moved from imprisonment to house arrest, due to the unusual of length of the trial, was recently denied.
